Description

Caledonian Backpackers is a fun hostel perfectly located on the main street of Edinburgh, with beautiful views overlooking the castle. Our aim is to give you the best experience of Edinburgh at the lowest prices.

We are surrounded by bars and clubs, but also have our very own bar, called The Swamp, which has 2 pool tables, cheap drinks and great music. On Sundays we have a quiz night, Mondays is a pool competition, Thursdays is open mike night, and on Fridays and Saturdays we have live bands.

We have a full self-catering kitchen which you can use 24 hours a day, and also offer a simple free breakfast (cereal, juices, coffee/tea and toast with chocolate spread/jams/vegemite), between 8 and 10 each morning.

We offer the cheapest internet access in town, £1 per hour, from our coin operated terminals, open 24 hours a day. We also have WiFi access available for the same low rates.

We have a laundry with washing machines and dryers, a couple of payphones, and we sell phonecards that let you call home for 3 hours for £5 (Australia/NZ/US/Canada)

Theres a couple of vending machines available 24 hours and reception is always open and available if you need anything.

As backpackers ourselves, we understand plans can change, so we have a flexible refund policy, provided you tell us early enough in the day, but please note that the 10% deposit you pay hostelbookers.com is not refundable. You can cancel any booking with 24 hours notice without charge (except the 10% deposit again).

Our rooms are all centrally heated, and each bed has an individual locker (your padlock - you can buy one from reception). We supply linen, which will be on your bed already, and which is washed completely after each guest (including the duvet covers!).

All 12 bed and smaller dorms require keys, so we do ask for a £5 key deposit which you get back when you check out. Check out time is at 10:30am, and we have a luggage lockup facility if you don't leave town until later in the day.

Please Note:
Smoking is not allowed anywhere in the hostel.
We do not allow anyone under 18 years of age to stay.

Directions

From the train station..follow the signs to Princes St, then turn left. From the bus station, turn left on St Andrews St then right onto Princes St. From Princes St walk past the castle and continue down until you reach Ryans Bar (on the right). We are across the road, next to the Abbey Bank.From the airport, catch the bus number 100 from outside the terminal, and get off at the Shandwick Place/West End stop. Turn right, then go around the corner past the Abbey Bank.
